Top Ten Favorite Books

1.

Harry Potter Series

I'm awful at just choosing one of something, especially books! Incidentally, I use to avoid reading these growing up, I tried once and just didn't get into it. Then when I got older this boy and his best friends coming together to save their magical world, and deal with tragedy was absolutely blissful reading. J.K. Rowling's writing took me into her world, and there just are no words to express how much I fell in love with it!

2.

 Plum Series

Janet Evanovich's Plum series, had me literally laughing out loud!  The fact this author is still cranking out books in this series is amazing to me and is my one-day goal.  A woman who finds herself constantly in trouble while bounty hunting. Anything that can go wrong will, I lost count how many times Stephanie's car has blown up or grandma has gotten herself involved in the mischief.  It's a must read!

3.

Red Queen Series

Victoria Aveyard has got some serious talent and imagination!  She brings elemental type powers to a whole new level, adding in kingdom wars AND a civil war.  You always hear we all bleed red and this means we are equal. This author takes that saying and twists it red blood versus silver, I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't read it, just do yourself a favor and read it!

4.

Goddess Summoning Series

As you have noticed I enjoy a good series and have a problem picking just one book. First off I've read a couple different series sets by this mother-daughter duo and they are all really excellent books. However, the Goddess Summoning Series takes the cake! Each one is different, a different myth twisted in ways you never could imagine. Some like Goddess of The Rose hold twists on mythology AND Beauty and the Beast. Truly magnificent books wielding such powerful imaginations.

5.

Phoenix and Ashes

This is the third book in the Elemental Masters Series by Mercedes Lackey. Sometimes I love a book more than the rest of the series, rarely, but it happens. This whole series is actually intriguing with elemental creatures and the elemental masters who learn to control their powers. This particular book is a twist on Cinderella. Honestly, I'm big into books that have magical worlds such as this and romance, which this also has.

6.

The Lunar Chronicles

This series by Marissa Meyer starts off as like a new spin-off of Cinderella. Then it explodes into this magical world, and this girl trying to save it and change it for the better.  You would think my favorite fairytale is Cinderella by how many spin-offs I read, but Cinderella was never my favorite until authors like Marissa Meyer came along and showed me this new experience. Her new books I haven't read yet, so if you have I'd love to hear your thoughts!

7.

Calendar Girl Series

This series by Audrey Carlan is lovely! This woman needs money, bad, so she becomes an escort. One job for each month, hence Calendar girl. There are parts that make me laugh, some make me want to cry, but watching the main character grow as a person each month is spectacular.  She gains friends along the way and falls in love. This series is something I keep coming back to too read over and over again.

8.

The Fairy Godmother

This is the first book in a series is called Five Hundred Kingdoms by Mercedes Lackey. This is another version similar to Cinderella. I never realized until now how many spin-offs I read based on that one fairytale. This book actually explains a cool twist on why fairytales work the way they do. I have a hard time at reading regular fairytales now without thinking of this book. I really don't want to ruin anything, so you have to read it for yourself!

9.

Flowers in the Attic

This book is the first in its series by V. C. Andrews. I watched the movie many years ago, and just this year got to reading the book. Just like most books, it can't compare to the movie.  I found myself lost in this dangerous world, and emotionally drained after reading it. I read a huge variety of books to see what genres I like best, and V.C. Andrews just turned me into loving the dark side of literature. A tale of a mother her locks up her four children in an attic and basically abandons them. I don't want to spoil all the horrifying plot twists, so just add this to your must-read list!

10.

Forever and The Night

This book is from the Black Rose Chronicles by Linda Lael Miller. I know it's hard to tell, but I'm a romance junky too. My favorite author in the romance genre is Linda Lael Miller, her books are just so juicy with fantastic writing skills. This particular book is about a Vampire who has been lonely forever and finally finds someone he loves except she is a mortal who doesn't want to be a vampire. Out of all her books, this one was one of the first I ever read, and the one I enjoy the most.
